| SWECHHA - We for Change Foundation, is a movement - a consensus among people about the nature of society, its problems and possible ways to work towards a positive change. It was launched in the year 2000 as the 'We for Yamuna' campaign. We started with the realization of the pitiable state of the river Yamuna, the 'lifeline' of Delhi that catered to almost all the water needs of the city but remained forgotten, ignored and unattended by the very people she nurtured. The campaign eventually transformed into a full-fledged NGO in 2001.
Today, it comprises of professionals, consultants and students from various fields such as social work, management, media and science.
Apart from 'We for Yamuna', we have been assiduously working in the field of environment and education. We have been successfully running programs on life skills, personality development and social citizenship in leading schools of Delhi. These programs have now become an integral
part of the main curriculum in Sri Ram School, Vasant Valley, Sanskriti, Modern School and two NDMC schools.
For us, 'change' means a transformation in the attitude of the masses, in their perceptions and simultaneously in the environment - both social and human. As an action group we are involved in various activities to create a better, cleaner and healthier society. |
