Sahar Zaman is an independent arts journalist, documentary maker and art curator. Former news anchor and senior arts correspondent for CNN IBN, she has done exclusive half hour programmes on MF Husain’s life in Dubai., a sting operation on the fake art market in India, special series on India’s top contemporary artists like Subodh Gupta, Mithu Sen and Sonia Khurana. She has also been invited by Dawn News in Pakistan and Young Asia TV in Sri Lanka to speak about the role of journalism and art in India and its significance in the subcontinent. She has also been invited to Australia for a special show titled ‘Spirit of India’ that aimed to address the growing concerns of worsening Indo-Oz relations.
Having been in the thick of breaking news like the General Elections 2009, Copenhagen Summit, the military offensive in Sri Lanka, Pakistan's war on terror and the racial attacks in Australia, Sahar has an in-depth understanding of issues to be able to connect them with art. Her career in journalism in the past decade has also included stints at Reuters Asia, Doordarshan News and Headlines Today (TV Today). |
